Ukraine: Musk Allegedly Disabled Starlink for Russian Military

In a recent development, the Ukrainian government has stated that Starlink terminals used by Russian military forces on the battlefield have been deactivated. This information was shared by a Ukrainian defense ministry advisor, as reported by Bloomberg. The advisor, Serhij Beskrestnow, described the situation as a "catastrophe" for Russian troops, noting that command structures have collapsed and offensive operations have stalled in numerous regions. The disruption has significantly impacted the Russian military's ability to communicate and coordinate effectively.

While the Russian military's access to Starlink has been cut off, the Ukrainian military has faced its own challenges with the service. These issues, however, were attributed to commanders failing to renew private subscriptions on time, according to a military advisor. SpaceX also released instructions for device registration, which Musk shared on social media, urging Starlink customers in Ukraine to comply. Amidst ongoing tensions, Russia has continued its drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, targeting heating and energy infrastructure. Delegations from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States are currently engaged in negotiations in Abu Dhabi. However, these discussions have been overshadowed by the continuing violence in Ukraine.
