Revolut expands into private markets

Revolut said on Monday it will launch Revolut Ventures, a new platform built with Carne Group to give eligible investors access to private technology companies a market long dominated by wealthy individuals and large institutions. The fintech expects to roll out the platform in 2027 and integrate it into the Revolut app alongside its existing investment products.

According to Revolut, private tech companies are taking longer to go public: the median age at listing has increased from 6.9 years in 2014 to 11 years in 2025. That shift means more of the value created by growing tech businesses occurs before their shares ever appear on public markets, leaving retail investors unable to participate unless they have special access.

Rolandas Juteika, Head of Revolut Wealth and Trading (EEA), said Revolut Ventures aims to remove one of the final barriers in wealth management: retail investor exclusion from non-listed companies. He added that value creation often happens long before an IPO and that by operating its own platform Revolut can give everyday investors opportunities to access tomorrows market leaders directly through the app.

The new private-markets offering will sit alongside existing options within Revoluts investing suite, including stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), bonds and money market funds. The announcement follows Revoluts introduction of private market investment products in selected EEA countries in July 2026.

Risks and broader strategy

Revolut cautioned that private company investments carry significant risks. Unlike publicly traded shares, private stakes are typically harder to sell and may be illiquid for long periods. Investors could lose a substantial portion or all of their capital, the company warned.

The launch comes as Revolut continues to broaden its financial services footprint. Earlier this year the group secured full banking licences in both the UK and France. The UK-based fintech is also weighing a dual stock market listing in London and New York as it looks to diversify revenue streams, although no timetable has been set.

By offering a managed route into non-listed tech companies, Revolut is betting that growing retail appetite for differentiated investment opportunities and a longer private-company life cycle will justify expanding its app beyond traditional public-market products. The service will, however, test investors tolerance for illiquidity and the platforms ability to underwrite or curate access to meaningful private-market opportunities.
